The National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE) presented the fifth Online Learning Event (OLE) in the 2016 Federal Grantee Training Series, in which Emily Morgan (Senior Policy Analyst, The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center) and Nina Salomon (Senior Policy Analyst, The CSG Justice Center) presented on information sharing among schools and community agencies.
During this OLE, Project Prevent and Elementary and Secondary School Counseling grantees learned about:

About the Speakers
Emily Morgan is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Council of State Governments Justice Center, helping to advance the organization’s school discipline and juvenile justice work. She was a lead author of the School Discipline Consensus Report, and now manages projects focused on expanding school discipline data collection and improving outcomes for young adults involved in the justice system. Prior to joining the Justice Center, Emily served as National Policy Coordinator for The After School Corporation, where she conducted policy analysis and research, and managed grant initiatives related to out-of-school time and youth development. Previously, she taught fifth grade in Montgomery County Public Schools (Maryland) and served as a Program Officer at the Institute of International Education, where she managed Fulbright Foreign Student Program grantees. Emily received her B.S. from Vanderbilt University and her Master’s degree in Education Policy from Columbia University Teachers College.
Nina Salomon is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Council of State Governments Justice Center. In this role, she develops policy briefs and technical assistance resources and provides support to states and local jurisdictions implementing school discipline and juvenile justice reforms, with a focus on education for incarcerated youth. She was also a lead author of theSchool Discipline Consensus Report released in 2014. Previously, she was a policy advisor at EducationCounsel LLC, a national policy and legal consulting firm where she provided assistance to clients at state education agencies, school districts, and national organizations to advance policy change. As an investment associate at The Chicago Public Education Fund, Nina conducted due diligence on prospective investments and managed projects in partnership with Chicago Public Schools. She also conducted research and wrote policy briefs and funding guides to support charter schools and youth development programs for The Finance Project. Nina earned a BA in political science from The George Washington University and a MSEd in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.

There are many useful resources in the School Discipline Consensus Report, especially in the Information Sharing and Data Collection chapters beginning on page 325. This report provides recommendations, as well as promising examples and links to additional resources. Other helpful resources include:
