The National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE) addresses a range of school climate topics that can help educators and other stakeholders build safe supportive learning environments. In particular, NCSSLE uses a Safe Supportive Schools Model the U.S. Department of Education developed in 2009 and was later validated when the U.S. Department of Education School Climate Surveys (EDSCLS) was developed. It is framed by three domains - Engagement, Safety, and Environment - and related subtopics for each. (See the model below.)
For each school climate topic, NCSSLE provides a definition, shares key takeaways, features the most seminal resources, and lists a range of other related resources. To explore the school climate topics, select a topic from the navigational menu above or use the side menu box to the right.
