On behalf of the U.S. Department of Education (ED)/Office of Safe and Healthy Students, the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE) hosted the third Office Hours event for Project Prevent(P2) and Elementary and Secondary School Counseling(ESSC) grantees.
This Office Hours event focused on implementing Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) and Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP), two evidence-based programs ED grantees commonly implement. During this session we were joined by:
- Ron Doyle, GREAT Program Manager, and Armando Sotero, GREAT Coordinator for Miami-Dade Schools Police, for our discussion on the implementation of GREAT. [3:00-3:45 pm Eastern Time]
- Jan Urbanski, Director of Safe and Humane Schools within the Institute on Family & Neighborhood Life at Clemson University, for our discussion on the implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. [3:45-4:30 pm Eastern Time ]
The grantee Office Hours are designed for P2 and ESSC grantees implementing at least one of these two programs via their grant. Participants had the opportunity to speak directly with Ron, Armando and Jan about common implementation challenges.
