Youth returning to traditional school settings from non-traditional settings, such as alternative schools, face significant barriers to successful transition. Every student deserves a chance to succeed, and when given the right tools, a positive learning environment and the right mentorship, students will have the support needed to reach their potential.
Last year, the Region 9 Comprehensive Center Advisory Board conducted focus groups with students at West 40 Intermediate Service Center, an intermediate district serving 41 school districts and three co-ops in Illinois. These focus groups informed the development of an infographic with recommendations for youth-serving adults on how best to support students transitioning to traditional school settings.
This webinar from Region 9 Comprehensive Center and NCSSLE shared key recommendations and insights from the infographic and the ways practitioners can use the recommendations in their school or district.
