Attention: State and District Leaders, School Administrators, Educators, Student Support Personnel, Parents, and Education Stakeholders
The U.S. Department of Education is hosting a webinar series to address hot topics that are on the top of educators’ minds. After sharing federal updates, the series features lessons learned and best practices from faculty, staff, schools, districts, institutions of higher education, and other places of educational instruction. It also shares a variety of useful resources.
On behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Safe and Supportive Schools, the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE) invites you to join the next Lessons from the Field webinar, Providing Required Compensatory Services That Help Students with Disabilities in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Date: Wednesday, July 27, 2022
Time: 3:00 – 4:15 pm ET
Please join the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) to learn when a school district must provide compensatory services to students with disabilities who did not receive the services to which they were entitled due to the pandemic and how to do so. Compensatory services are designed to remedy education or other deficits resulting from a student with a disability not receiving services they were due under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). In this webinar, subject matter experts will discuss all aspects of compensatory services under Section 504 and the IDEA and parents and state and district level administrators responsible for developing plans to address pandemic related compensatory services will share their experiences.
