Studies show Gen Z is drinking less alcohol than previous generations. This could be due to a variety of reasons, including cost and wellness trends. University of Nebraska-Lincoln Campus Recreation Assistant Director of Alcohol and Drug Education, Jon Gayer, said he has noticed changes in the way that students consume alcohol. Many students are choosing to abstain from drinking altogether, and many are changing their drinking habits, Gayer said. He attributed these changes to UNL’s efforts towards wellness programming and a rise in interest in wellness among young people.
