This is especially important for student groups who are more likely to experience acts of discrimination, hate, and violence. In order for students to learn and participate fully in school, they need to be present, feel safe, and belong. This session is the second in the Free to Learn miniseries, which offers evidence-based practices to prevent, address, and ameliorate the effects of bullying, violence and hate while also supporting school safety, school-based mental health, and positive school climates. We will begin with an overview that explores why students disengage and key strategies to support all students in meaningfully participating in school.
