Presenters will discuss how the marketing of drugs, both for therapeutic use and recreational use, has shifted over time and how current messaging tactics may lead students to believe that their usage is both a social norm and safe. Our panelists will provide information on how they are directly working with the Drug Enforcement Administration and others to address drug access and discuss what adults can do to support safer online access for students through digital wellness approaches.Speakers & PanelistsModerator: Helen Hernandez, Assistant Director, Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, Executive Office of the President, ONDCPElyse Robertson, Federal Program Officer, Office of Safe and Supportive Schools, U.S. Department of EducationCarlos Briano, Public Information Officer, Drug Enforcement Administration, El Paso Division, NMKemp Chester, Senior Advisor to the Director of National Drug Control PolicyMarci Hertz, Associate Director for Program Implementation, Division of Overdose Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Dr. Kristine Meurer, Executive Director, Student, Family, and Community Supports Division, Albuquerque Public Schools, NMKyle Rau, Program Manager, Dark Web and Online Investigations Program, U.S. Postal Inspection Service Dr. Michael Rich, Director and Founder, Boston Children’s Digital Wellness Lab, MAMichelle Rincon, Community Outreach Specialist, Drug Enforcement Administration, El Paso Division, NMLisa Sedillo-White, Deputy County Manager, Bernalillo County, NMRyan Sibbald, Assistant Special Agency in Charge, Special Operations Division, Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Internet Investigations Section, Drug Enforcement Administration  Webinar MaterialsResources, slides, speaker bios, the webinar recording (available the day after the event) and more will be posted here on the event webpage. Speaker biosSlidesRecording (Coming soon on March 21)Transcript (Coming soon on March 22)Related ResourcesOperation Prevention, DEA and Discovery EducationFamily Digital Wellness Guide, Boston Children’s Digital Wellness LabFamily Guide to Digital Citizenship, Boston Children’s Digital Wellness LabFamily Guide to Teaching Kids and Teens Essential Digital Skills, Boston Children’s Digital Wellness LabFamily Guide to Disinformation and Misinformation Online, Boston Children’s Digital Wellness LabFamily Guide to Problematic Interactive Media Use (PIMU), Boston Children’s Digital Wellness LabEverything You Need to Teach Digital Citizenship, Common Sense EducationSEL in Digital Life Resource Center, Common Sense EducationCharacteristics of Alcohol, Marijuana, and Other Drug Use Among Persons Aged 13–18 Years Being Assessed for Substance Use Disorder Treatment, CDCAdolescent Substance Use Prevention In School-Based Health Centers, School Based Health AlliancePromoting Mental Health and Well-Being in Schools: An Action Guide for School and District Leaders, CDCClassroom Management, CDCParents and Caregivers Resources, DEA One PillDigital Wellness LabRegistration Attendees must register to participate.
