This fourth Webinar in the 2014 SSD Webinar Series, Guiding Principle 2: Clear, Appropriate, and Consistent Expectations and Consequences, will provide an in-depth review of Guiding Principle #2 as outlined within the Guiding Principles: A Resource Guide for Improving School Climate and Discipline, a key document in the recently released package. In particular, it will walk through each Action Step identified for Principle #2 implementation, including exploring how each are being implemented by an expert panel of practitioners. These content experts bring deep knowledge of the practical realities associated with integrating Principle #2 strategies into current practice.
The Webinar will also include a "tracking guide" that will allow participants to complete a short self-assessment aligned with the Action Steps of Guiding Principle #2 and a list of related resources to support effective implementation.
Host and Guests
The Webinar will be hosted by David Osher, Ph.D. (American Institutes for Research, Washington, DC), and feature key experts in the field who have implemented elements of Principle #2, including: Ramiro Rubalcaba, (Principal, Azusa High School, Azusa, CA), Kalabrya G., (Student from Benton Harbor, MI), Robert Murphy, (Maryland Department of Education), and Jillian Ahrens, (Cleveland Teachers’ Union, Cleveland, OH).
Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this session, participants will be able to:
Identify the role Principle #2 plays in achieving the objectives of the discipline guidance package;
Describe the Action Steps contained within Principle #2;
Identify proven strategies and practical resources to support implementation; and
Utilize a tracking guide to assess their own status with the identified action steps and identify areas of strength and potential improvement related to Principle #2.

This Webinar is appropriate for school district superintendents and allied staff, teachers, and support staff, school climate teams, student support personnel, school resource and security officers, probation/parole officers, law enforcement, judges and court administrators, legal personnel, youth, family members, and other community stakeholders.
