Diverse Issues in Higher Education

Charles J. Alexander oversees the legacy of the Academic Advancement Program (AAP) at UCLA, one of the longest running academic support programs for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. Established 53 years ago and built on principles of s social justice, AAP’s mission is to create and administer innovative academic programs for students historically underrepresented in higher education. These students are provided academic supports that include counseling, scholarships, and opportunities to participate in innovative science programs.
