Students, faculty and community members who responded to a West Virginia University Police Department campus community safety survey reported feeling unsafe or extremely unsafe the most in Downtown Morgantown, per a Community Notice. According to the survey, conducted every three years, 526 of the 1,080 total respondents reported feeling unsafe on the University’s campus. The report said survey respondents comprised 339 staff members, 503 students, 49 parents, 107 faculty members and 82 community members. Nearly 700 respondents said they wished to see improved safety infrastructure, such as better lighting on campus, and 582 reported wanting increased visible police presence on campus. Just over 500 respondents said they want to learn more about campus emergency procedures.
